Clubs with Makers exist in schools, community centers, and in neighborhoods. Some are open to new members, and others are only for the youth who are already part of the institution that hosts the club. To add your group to the directory, please fill out our Affiliated Clubs Application.

CMP Makers Club Overview: An after school club meeting weekly on the American River Campus of the California Montessori Project with an optional monthly build time at an off campus shop. The club will explore making and tinkering with kids in grades 1 thru 8 (kids in 1st – 3rd grade will require an adult co participant). The goal of the club is to foster creative thinking, ingenuity, and problem solving through the making of a variety of projects including both adult led and child led projects. Early projects will be defined by the adult mentors and endeavor to teach skills such as proper tool use, construction methods, and soft skills such as collaboration, brainstorming, and iterative design (Sept. – Nov.) . Once the group has a base level of skills the club will switch to child led projects (Jan. – May) as part of the Young Makers program with the ultimate goal of the kids exhibiting their projects at the annual Makers Fair in San Jose in May. Goals: • Foster creative thinking, ingenuity, and problem solving skills • Grow kids who can understand how things work and enjoy making • Provide a supportive environment where kids can tackle challenging project and embrace both success and failure; learning and growing in the process • Emphasize team work and collaboration • Have fun and amaze ourselves at what we can do
